Accidental Felter: Sock Disaster!

My first ever pair of knitted wool socks ended up in the washer and then the hot dryer with the rest of the sock and undie wash. The result...socks for very small feet!

The Horror!
All I have left now are my Mitered Socks which have been in limbo for quite some time. At least now, I have an incentive to take them out of hibernation and finish them.

Happy Knitting!

Did you go ahead and try them on anyway? I felted a pair in the washer once (on accident), but after jamming my feet in them and wearing them around for a day or so they've been as good as new (except for being felted, of course). Yours might look a little smaller though... :)

Yes, try putting them on. I had a pair accidentally make the wash and I can still wear them although they are felted now. Bummer.

What a bummer! I did the same thing once with a pair of socks I knit for myself. Luckily after they felted they fit my 4 year old daughter beautifully.

Oh No! It's so depressing when the woolies get into the wash.

If it's any consolation, I think they look great. :-)

Oh man that stinks! Hope they still can find a home on someone's feet.

Ouch! That happened to a beautiful pair of socks I made for my daughter. We both blame The Hub for the disaster. However, the good news is that her (tiny-footed) friend got a new pair of very warm felty socks.
