A Tempting Ravelry Swap: But I Think I'll Pass

Would you join a Multnomah Shawl Swap? Knit a Multnomah Shawl for a swap partner who in turn knits one for you in this shawl exchange.

I considered joining. The deadline to join is July 1st. I'm already in the Dazzling Dozen Potholder Swap and the Proud to be Twelve Inches Square Swap on Ravelry.

I declined. I have a sweater I promised hubby I would have finished by the fall. His Urban Aran Cardigan is feeling slightly neglected these days.

Has anyone ever joined a swap where you commit yourself to making an object that requires a large amount of your time and advanced skill?

Potholder and squares are my speed at the moment.

Multnomah Shawl Unleashed!

My Multnomah Shawl is unpinned from blocking and unleashed on the world. I'm enjoying wearing it as a shawl...

My first shawl project completed. Will it be my last shawl? Probably not.

Blocking My Multnomah Shawl: Finally!

My finished Multnomah Shawl is now pinned to the back of my chesterfield drying.

I decided to block it with more pointed than curved edges.

It was a frustrating project but that was my fault. Even though I checked out the Multnomah Shawl KAL to look for pattern problems and interpretations before I started, I still messed up! The fan and feather lace was knit wrong and ended up like a ruffle. Way too many stitches!  I ripped the shawl down to the garter stitch and knit up the fan and feather again. Voila, you see the result above.

When the shawl is dry and I have my chesterfield back, I''ll model my creation.

When Will This End!: My Ground Hog Day Multnomah Shawl

I am now in the middle of my seventh repeat of the fan and feather on my Multnomah shawl. Time stands still when I am knitting this project. It  feels like it will never end! The repeats are tedious. My work is so bunched up on the needles due to all of the stitch increases that knitting is slow.

Yes, this is my fault for buying circular needles that were too short. I can't see if my fan and feather is rippling properly. At least it will be a big surprise when it comes off the needles.

Oh, and I think I may run out of yarn before I'm finished the last and final tenth repeat. They better have another ball of this at my LYS and to heck with the dye lot.

And yes, I would like cheese with my whine!

I've Got Fans and Feathers: Progress On My Multnomah Shawl

My Multnomah Shawl is slowly taking shape. I'm almost ready to begin my sixth of the lace repeats.

It may soon spill off of my needles.

The pattern is becoming a bit tedious. What keeps me going are all of the beautiful Multnomah shawls in the Ravelry gallery for this project. I'm looking forward to having one too!

Fan and Feather: I'm Ready to Knit Lace!

My Multnomah Shawl was neglected a bit this week. You see hubby and I joined a gym. Being keeners, we went at it with great determination. However, I'm sure the fan and feather lace I am now about to begin knitting on my shawl will benefit from my newly found biceps!

More Lace: My Multnomah Shawl

I've succumbed to the knitted lace shawl bug. After my first foray into the world of knitted lace with my ribbed lace bolero, I am taking the next step.

I've casted on the Multnomah Shawl. My detective work on Ravelry tells me it's good for beginners. So far, so good. Although, the feather and fan border that you finish the shawl with looks daunting for this knit lace beginner.

This is the center which I am so proud of figuring out, after ripping my work down too many times! Thanks Ravelry forums!

Of course, I joined the Multnomah Knit Along. Yes, another KAL!
