Crochet Something for Your Guy This Christmas

At this late date, I was looking for something quick to crochet as a gift for my guy this Christmas. I found this suggestion for comfy crochet slippers at the Crochet Liberation Front's blog.

This got me thinking about what else is there to crochet for the guy in your life that would be fast to "hook-up" before Christmas morning.

A one hour scarf by Sharon Maher of Laughing Purple Designs is knit using four strands of yarn.

For the guy who has a favorite chair, why not use Christina Budd's pattern to crochet an armchair pocket for remotes, snacks and other miscellany for couch potato moments.

Got a guy who's tired of ties at Christmas (and has a sense of humour), how about a crocheted bow-tie from Craftzine?

A Neck Warming for Another Neck Warmer!

I recently finished knitting this neck warmer. The uneven rib pattern is great for a bulky yarn like the Shetland Chunky I used. The light blue color shows off  its texture and chunkiness. 

What else is great about using this rib pattern with a bulky yarn is the elimination of the need for button holes. The buttons fit through the ribbing where ever you want to put them. Simplicity! Or is that the sign of a lazy knitter?

Fiber Arts Friday: My New Winter Neck Warmer

I can no longer deny that winter will come. So, my newest creation is this neck warmer which I was experimenting with on my knitting needles this week. Using 12mm needles and double strands of a chunky yarn, it is knit in an uneven rib pattern. The result is big on thickness and texture.

I crocheted a placket for the buttonholes. Wooden buttons add interest and warmth to the piece complimenting the rusty orange yarn.

Fiber Arts Friday: Scarves Anticipating a Change in Seasons

It's Fiber Arts Friday at Alpaca Farm Girl's blog. After a summer hiatus, I am back in action for the soon coming fall season. I've been busy knitting and crocheting scarves using a wool soy blend yarn. The yarn is soft and silky. I especially like how this yarn crochets into a thick and soft scarf.

I designed this blue variegated diamond lace scarf using one of my favorite crochet motifs. I love the flow of blues throughout this yarn. I'll soon be listing this scarf for sale in my Etsy shop.

My knit scarf is worked in simple garter stitch on large needles which gives a lightness to the soft wool soy yarn. This variegated yarn of plum, pink red and brown makes for a richly colored scarf to warm your neck.

So, my hands are busy creating scarves at the moment. Happy fiber arting!
