After seeking counsel from you sock experts out there, I decided to knit my Quick and Easy Lounge Socks using the top-down method. It appears that a beginner is best knitting using the top-down way. Mitts are knit "top-down". I've knit mitts. So, at least the beginning was familiar!
I just turned the heel witht the help of Silver's Sock Class. Without this great photo tutotrial with very clear instructions, my heel would not be ready for the next step...the gusset!
Thanks for your advice. Next pair, toe-up!
Happy sock knitting!

Toe-Up or Top-Down?: I Just Wanta Knit a Pair of Socks!
By
Allison
Opinions please! What are the advantages, disadvantages and such of knitting socks either toe-up or top-down? I am a newbie to sock knitting. I'd like to get off on the right foot (no pun intended), or I may develop a life-long phobia of knitting socks!
I'm going to knit Liat Gat's Quick and Easy Lounge Socks.
I look forward to hearing from all of you sock knitters out there.
Thanks!
Happy Socks!
